concert"

Jose Romanillos says in his valuable tome published in 2004 "The Vihuela and the Spanish Guitar", that Francisco Gonzalez was at this address in 1863-1864, but here on June 21, 1862 we see that he's at the same address: calle de Latoneros num. 1, Madrid. This information is from the daily "La Discusión" (Madrid. 1856) June 21, 1862 n.º 1.992 page 4., courtesy of the invaluable resource: Biblioteca Nacional de España in Madrid.

Julian Arcas was 29 years old, he was performing at the Conservatorio de Madrid on Sunday June 22, 1862, (This is mentioned in the "Espectaculos" section - to the left of that is the "Gacetillas" section where it notes that the following Sunday June 29th, a second concert by Julian Arcas will be held in the same location.) with an 1856 Antonio de Torres classical guitar with a Lute Bridge, known as "La Leona", made in Seville. This is likely the largest format guitar to be used in the city of Madrid in a concert venue, it also had a tornavoz. Francisco Gonzalez had concert guitarist Antonio Cano teaching guitar at his workshop since 1857-lots of activity.

If you look at the newspaper in the lower right it mentions tickets for the concert at the Conservatorio de Madrid that were 10 reales were available at 3 locations Mr. Romero's music store, at: calle del Arenal, Mr. Martin y Salazar's music store, at, calle de Esparteros and the guitar workshop of Francisco Gonzalez: calle de Latoneros Num. 1, Madrid, I don't wish to forget to tell you that both store owners were also music publishers as well.

I include the program from the concert from the book "El Guitarrista Julian Arcas" published in 2003, by Javier Suarez-Pajares and Eusebio Rioja Vazquez, this is also a courtesy from the Conservatorio de Madrid.

It is not known who made the guitar used by Julian Arcas in concerts before that of the 1859 Antonio de Torres classical guitar, known as "La Leona".

Also of historical interest is the fact that Trinidad Huerta played a concert at the Conservatorio de Madrid on February 16, 1862, and that the ticket prices were 300% the price of the Arcas concert tickets: 30 reales. This information is from the daily "La Discusión" (Madrid. 1856) February 16,, 1862 n.º 1.889 page 4., courtesy of the invaluable resource: Biblioteca Nacional de España in Madrid. Javier Suarez-Pajares and Eusebio Rioja Vazquez, also report that Trinidad Huerta played a concert on May 22, 1862 at the Salon de recreo de Teatro de la Opera in Madrid.
