As the label states this teacher imported guitars, this one from his German source. On the front lip of the bridge in front of the saddle it says: German Manufacture, then behind the Ebony saddle: gesetzlich geschuetzt, which means patent, or translates as "legally protected" or "copyrighted."

He was internationally known, as he contributed his compositions to the S.S. Stewart Banjo and Guitar Journal in the December 1887 and January 1888 issue, Volume IV, No. 7 as the song sheet and magazine cover included in this listing show.
