Classical Guitars: 2009 Matthias Dammann
Matthias Dammann Spruce Double / composite top
$60,000
650 mm Scale, 52 mm nut. Medium grain Spruce Soundboard and very figured Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. Millennium Fret board. 12 hole tie block. French Polish. 5 fan braces and 2 bottom chevrons, cut kerfing liner attaching the back to the sides, 1 1/2" x 1/2" pieces attaching the top to the sides. This instrument weighs 1,266 grams= 44.11 ozs. = 2 lbs, 12 ozs.
Scratches, 3 cracks on the back, 2 near the Bass lower bout edge, the longest goes over the liner, the 3rd is over the inside Spanish foot, there is also one on the top looks like 1/2 of a nickel size coin, but this the rarest of the Dammann Guitars, because the ones you have seen in concerts are Cedar tops.
It has an effervescent sound, is what I said, when I first played this a decade ago.
This is a consignment.
In 2019, Pablo Sáinz Villegas accompanied Placido Domingo using this Spruce top guitar. The video is of Pablo using his Cedar top, the most common seen in concerts.
At the very bottom of the page is a photo of a list of 12 players who use Dammann guitars, but none have Spruce tops mentioned, of those mentioned there are 7 that are Cedar soundboards.
