Virtuoso Concert Guitarist Alirio Diaz visited the brother's workshop of Nicola and Vincenzo de Bonis in 1969, and the Italian press covered this visit with a large newspaper article including photos of Alirio Diaz and Nicola De Bonis (1918-1978). The De Bonis luthiers of Bisignano, Italy is a family of instrument makers since the 18th century.
Between 1951 and 1956 Vicenzo de Bonis won 7 awards on his own, not to mention those won along with his brother, that are mentioned below.
The masterclasses with Andres Segovia brought many guitarists in touch with the best luthiers of Italy throughout the span of time when the classes were held.
