$12,000

String Length 1,082 mm = 42 5/8" Gamba Style Double Bass made circa 1880, no cracks in the Spruce soundboard nor Maple back, Rosewood fingerboard, German Gears, French Polish. Available now. This comes with the Original Bridge made by Natale Novelli (1903-1981), though it is mounted with a New Deluxe Aubert Bridge for maximum resonance and volume. This bass weighs 40% less than any other bass and sings very well due to that factor. Now for sale: April 11, 2021.

Excellent Condition. One can see there is no sinking variation in the f holes since the instrument was imported into Milan, Italy, they are still as they were cut. Most Basses and cellos show some distortion due to the stress of time.

Rene Vanne says: Carlo worked with his sons and created good and beautiful instruments. This bass was created by the sons of Carlo Albertini, as the label so states. One of Carlo's sons, Felice Albertini, is listed in the Benvenuto Terzi "Dizionario dei Chitarristi e Liutai" published in 1937, as a guitar and violin maker.

Before becoming independent, Carlo Albertini was a luthier at the legendary Antonio Monzino & Figli workshop in Milan. The Monzino workshop originated in the 18th century, about 1750.
